Lisa Senafe started the first Bentley's Corner Barkery in 2008. It was founded after her two cats passed away from cancer. As she did more research she realized that the food that she was feeding did not help the cats' immune system. Realizing there are better and healthier options out there she wanted to help more people understand the difference in the quality of pet foods available. So, she created a store where she did the research for the customers. Lisa wanted customers to feel confident in selecting any of the foods, chews or treats at Bentley's and know they are ok for their pets.  



Josh & Holly Allen started the first Dee-O-Gee in Bozeman, MT in the fall of 2008 - establishing the 'products & services' model that is central to all Dee-O-Gee locations, including a GIANT fire hydrant! Josh & Holly's rescue dog, Jericho, had a number of critical health conditions and caring for him was part of the start to the first Dee-O-Gee. Holly was a veterinary technician at that time, and used her knowledge to research foods and supplements to help Jericho. The combination of those natural foods & supplements and top-notch pet services created the foundation that Dee-O-Gee is still built upon today.

Fees & Start-up Costs

Franchise Fee: $35,000 per location
Royalty Fee: 5% of Gross Sales
Brand Fee: 1% of Gross Sales
Total Investment: Approximately $250k – $550k


Financial Requirements

 - Liquid Assets Over $250,000
 - Total Net Worth Over $500,000
 - Aditional $50,000 to $100,000 working capital is strongly recommended.

We'll get real with you ... how much money can you actually make owning a pet store? Good question! We were wondering the same thing before we got started. 

Timeline to opening your PETstuff location 

After you submit your application and you are approved, what are the next steps?
Note: all time estimates are approximate and can vary for each location.

Day 1

Sign Franchise Agreement

We will send you the Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) and the Franchise Agreement after you apply. Once you are approved, then you can sign the Franchise Agreement. This starts the PETstuff 'ball' rolling toward opening your first store!

Months 1-3

Find a location & funds

In this critical step, we'll work with you and a local commercial realtor to identify potential locations, pick the right one for you and then help you negotiate your lease terms. 

We'll also provide you with a business plan and help you find the appropriate amount of financing you need to start your Petstuff.

Month 4

Design your space

We love it when we get first time guests into our locations and they say "Whoa, this is SO cool!"

This happens a lot! 

Our partner architecture firm will use your space to design the best 'flow' for either concept (Bentley's or Dee-O-Gee) and match the 'feel' to be regionally relevant and appealing. 

Months 5-10

Build it.

We'll walk with you every step of the way during construction, including a couple of site-visits to make sure things are coming together correctly. This is often one of the most challenging steps, but we'll be there with you to make sure it comes together!

Month 10

Order fixtures, products and equipment. 

This part is easy - we already have pre-negotiated rates with racking supplies, vendors, and approved manufacturers to get all of the racking and products in your store that will set it apart from other local 'box' competitors or old-school 'mom and pop' feed stores.

Month 11

Set the store & hire staff

Making sure you have the right 'team' on board to open your doors is KEY! We'll help with that, and then help get you and everyone else trained up on the products and services you will be offering your local customers. 

Month 12

Soft opening

This part is SO exciting ... and, SO stressful. Don't worry, we'll be on-site with you to get the store set and help you through your first few days of opening.

Month 15

Grand Opening!

This is the FUN part ... after a few months of 'working out the kinks' and developing your team, we'll help you throw a big party, formally announcing Dee-O-Gee or Bentley's into your community!
